The love that loves to love
Please read Lester Bangs on Astral Weeks. It moved him to excessive italics, which I have never taken to be a bad thing. Thanks to Alex E for reminding me of all this.
Over the past few years, I have developed a pattern where I have a serious week-long pow-wow with this album once every three months or so. I remember buying Astral Weeks the summer before 8th grade, on the same day I bought Pet Sounds. I spent my entire weekly allowance at Borders that day. Though it took me about a year to be confident about my feelings toward it (it was sort of a gateway out of a six-month period when I only listened to bands that sounded like Travis), I listened to it constantly. Today it is still nearly my favorite album of all time.
